There are different myths about this fortune beast. In some depictions, this creature is often shown to have wings, the foot of a Quilin, or the horn of a deer. It is described as a beast with the head of a dragon and the body of a lion. Its name is also often stylized as Pi Xiu or Pi Yao.Īccording to Chinese legends, the Pixiu dragon is a creature that resembles a lion. Outside China, Pixiu is sometimes called Piyao.
